Skiing & Snowboarding Mt Ruapehu

Mt Ruapehu is home to New Zealand's two largest Ski Areas with 1,800 hectares of serious room to move.

With just one Mt Ruapehu lift pass, you can access to two huge mountain slopes. Both Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas will provide you with more terrain, more choices and more pure freedom to ski, snowboard or play in the snow.

Owhango Hotel and Forest Lodge are situated no more then 30 minutes from Mt Ruapehu and are in close proximity to both ski fields.

Whakapapa Ski Field

New Zealand's largest, most developed ski area. Within the 600 acre boundary, there are a myriad of options that cater for beginners right through to advanced skiers out to challenge their limits. There are plenty of marked trails but the off piste skiing at Whakapapa is superb.

Whakapapa Ski Area is located on the northwestern slopes of Mt Ruapehu and on a clear day has spectacular views across central North Island. Whakapapa is renowned for its world-class beginner facilities in Happy Valley.

After recently being enlarged by a third, it has become a popular zone for first time ski and snowboarders with its wide gentle slopes.
